Penguins . . . in South America?!

One of the greatest features of Argentina is that there is a climate for everyone. From the humid and pleasant beaches and ports of the province of Buenos Aires, to the western deserts of the provinces of San Juan and La Rioja (where it gets well over 100 degrees!), to the glacier-filled Patagonia, Argentina is a land of many climates. The southern region of Argentina, called Patagonia [paht-ah-gohn-ya] (which includes the southern part of Chile as well), is much farther south than many people realize, coming very close to Antarctica. One of Patagonia's interesting features is its penguine population. Look at these pictures of the animals, which help show the diversity in geography and climates in the huge country of Argentina.
