". . . nueve de julio, all I want to know!"

Have you ever seen the musical Evita, viewed its movie version, or heard its music? In the musical, young Eva Perón excitedly leaves her suburb to explore a new life in giant Buenos Aires. On her way, she sings (in the song "Buenos Aires") of seeing the amazing sights. One of these is the widest avenue in the world, la avenida 9 de julio (lah av-en-eed-ah nway-vey dey hoo-lio). Eva proclaims that this avenue , and a few others sights, is "all I want to know!" (The avenue wasn't actually finished until Eva was dead. Broadway and Hollywood aren't always accurate!) What makes this avenue so great? Well, look at these two pictures of the avenue in daytime and at night.

Besides being an incredible sight, some of Buenos Aires' greatest attractions and most historical buildings are on this street. The street itself has twelve lanes, along with two adjacents streets that have three lanes apiece. This avenue is big and beautiful, just like the city it resides in. Buenos Aires is a city, as you can see, comparable in beauty and size to the most famous of European capitals. While there are many sights to see there, wouldn't youjust like Evaget to know this amazing avenue?
